Danielle C. McManus, Sara Dilliplane, and Rosa Lee created the 1104 Studio with the mission to explore the power of art to create change. Inspired by Harlem's child welfare activist, Mother Clara Hale and her commitment to social change, we are committed to a belief in the artist's capability to instigate movement one step --one idea, one image-- at a time.
As studio members, we come from diverse backgrounds and experiences but we share an interest in engaging, educating, and inspiring participation through the creative arts. We marry information and opinion through the communication tool of aesthetics; our underlying goal is to connect in ways large and small. To the question, "can one person really make a difference?" we continuously explore the color, shape, form, and texture of the answer "yes."
